Sensitivity reads

Hello, all. This is the only page on my website in first person, so a little breaking of the fourth wall, but sensitivity reading is such an important topic and I wanted to speak directly to you. If you’re unsure what sensitivity reads are, check out this article and circle back.

Rates are $1 for every 800 words. For example, an 80,000 word manuscript would be $100.

I do sensitivity reads for the following topics –

Disability: Regarding mental health and neurodivergence, I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD for over two decades, and I recently self-diagnosed with ADHD. In physical health, I also have Crohn’s disease, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Yes, I’ve been through lots of therapy and I have a lot of medical trauma. Thanks for asking.

Queerness: I’m a bisexual, aromantic demigirl, so I’m happy to read for any of those identities. I’m a queer person who lives in the southern U.S. (North Carolina) and I’m from the north (New York), so I can speak to both of those experiences.

Religion: If you follow me on my social media accounts, you know I’m a fiercely anti-Zionist Jew and an atheist and I’m happy to read anything along those lines. And yes, you can be both. No, I will not explain further on this page.

Please list content warnings when submitting a manuscript for sensitivity reads. Do not send manuscripts that involve eating disorders, domestic violence, or animal death.

Feel free to reach out via my contact page. I’d love to help, but as a chronically ill author, my spoons are limited and I reserve the right to say no to any manuscript.
